Fun day with a producer buddy of mine and his rack of amps. We stayed on his Matchless. I really enjoyed playing his '63 Strat. His bridge pickup is UNREAL. Dangit I need an old Strat...

Anyway, he freaked out on my '55. (Hey I still do, too.) We decided on the first pass to open up and play longer notes on the choruses of this track to give it a break from all the subdivision in the intro and verses. The second pass adds subdivision to the chorus but with a different energy than the riff in the verse. You always want to look for how you can help create the right dynamic shape on a track.
