Stockholm: Walking Kungsholmen in Sunny September

Walking from Kronoberg Park, past the Kronoberg Remand Prison, and on to Grubbes Park takes you through a historically rich and interesting part of Kungsholmen in Stockholm.

Kronoberg Park is a charming elevated park offering beautiful views of the city. Established in the 19th century, it quickly became a popular green space for the residents of Kungsholmen. Initially, the area was less developed, but over time, the park turned into a peaceful retreat amidst the urban setting, with large trees and pathways perfect for a relaxing stroll.

As you continue your walk, you'll pass the Kronoberg Remand Prison (Kronobergshäktet), an important yet somewhat infamous landmark in Stockholm. Built in 1975, this high-security facility is primarily used for those awaiting trial or sentencing. While it may not seem like a typical tourist spot, it’s a notable part of Stockholm’s judicial system and an interesting sight for those curious about the city's infrastructure.

Finishing your walk, you’ll arrive at Grubbes Park. It may be smaller and lesser-known, but it's a peaceful, green space that locals often use for relaxation and outdoor activities. Named after a historical figure or location, it offers a nice place to pause and enjoy the surroundings.

Along this route, you’ll experience both the natural beauty of Stockholm’s parks and a unique glimpse into the city's functioning, with a mix of tranquility and urban history.
