Today Saturday (July 1) marks the 103rd founding anniversary of Dhaka University (DU), the country's oldest university. Bengal was partitioned on the basis of Jinnah's two-nation theory. Muslims and the people of East Bengal benefited the most from the partition of Bengal. After various movements and difficulties, this partition of Bengal was canceled in 1911. Dissatisfaction with the British was intense among the Muslims. The then governor promised to make a university for the Muslims of East Bengal.
This year too, the university administration has undertaken a day-long colorful program on the occasion of the day. Various important buildings and roads including Vice Chancellor Hall, Curzon Hall, Kala Bhavan and Student-Teacher Center have been illuminated to celebrate the day. Besides, construction of archways and decoration of road dividers and islands have been done at various entrances of the university. University academic, administrative buildings are decorated in colorful decorations.
