Gesture is so much fun and is such a huge part of figure drawing. But it’s also quite confusing and mysterious at first. In this series, we are demystifying gesture!

Instead of starting from flowing curves, we are going to start at level 1 which is clearcut angles. These are absolutely essential to gesture drawing.

We break down this idea of ‘angles’ into 3 types. If you can become good at these 3 types of angles, you are more than halfway there, at least in my opinion!

In the second part of this series, we will look at level 2, which is the beautiful curves you have seen in gesture drawing. Those curves are based on visual flow and rhythms, but they are based on the angles we are looking at in this video!
