Amongst the ancient trees 🌳

The Daintree Rainforest - part of the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest in Australia and the oldest surviving tropical rainforest in the world! Of course, we had to visit.

We had thought Port Douglas would be the furthest north we would go, but once we realized how close we were to the Daintree, an extra hour north seemed trivial to go to see this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is absolutely magical. Over the course of 3 days we stayed in multiple campsites right on the edge of the forest, and spent a day wandering Mossman Gorge and the lower Daintree (the forest is split in two by a large agricultural tract. More sugarcane!)
