Today’s journey across Flores Island, Indonesia starts from Bajawa, one of the most culturally rich regions in East Nusa Tenggara. With my driver as my guide, our first magical stop was Belaraghi Village – one of the most authentic Ngada traditional villages you can visit.
🌿 Belaraghi Village
Stepping into Belaraghi felt like traveling back in time. The village is famous for its traditional Ngada houses (Bhaga and Nabe structures), ancestral traditions, sacred megalith stones, and a way of life preserved for generations. The people here still follow ancient customs, from weaving to ceremonies, and the whole village looks like a living museum surrounded by nature. It was peaceful, historic, and incredibly beautiful.
🍶 Aimere – Traditional Arak Making at Loka Tuomata
Next, we drove to Aimere, the heart of traditional palm wine (arak) production in Flores. At Loka Tuomata, I saw how locals distill arak using fire, bamboo, and age-old techniques. Even though the taste wasn’t my favorite, the process was soooo cool to watch!
Also met some super cute school kids on the road — such wholesome interactions ❤️
💦 Ogi Waterfall
Hidden deep in a remote area, Ogi Waterfall was another highlight! The hike wasn’t tough, and WOW — the waterfall was powerful, refreshing, and surrounded by untouched nature. Huge shoutout to my driver who helped me find the trail and take some amazing photos. Truly one of the best waterfalls in Flores!
🏡 Ending the Day in Ende
After a long but very exciting day exploring traditional villages, wine-making culture, and natural wonders, we finally reached Ende, where my cozy Airbnb awaited. The perfect way to end a memorable day in Flores.

It’s perfect for culture lovers, photography enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to see the real, authentic Flores beyond Labuan Bajo.
