Due to popular demand, Polygon have now released a new SRAM Rival 1x11 version of the Bend RV. The Polygon Bend RV lets you tackle any ride whether it be to ride tarmac, commute to work or exploring local bush and forest trails. The Bend RV is the ultimate blend between comfort and versatility.

Gravel grinding, adventure riding, all-road riding, whatever you want to call it – is the idea of taking your road bike, off road, and it has really taken off in the last few years in Australia.

Cyclocross racing played a major part in the development of the Gravel bike. Designed for the off season - cyclocross is short form bike racing, where riders originally took their road bikes and raced them off road - in the mud, over obstacles and up hills, often being assisted by copious amounts of beer.

Soon brands developed bikes specifically for Cyclocross, which were aggressive racing bikes, with high bottom brackets and twitchy steering – which was great for the track, but not so good for all day / everyday use. So Gravel bikes were borne - with sensible geometry, more predictable handling but still maintained the two key advantages of cyclocross bikes being the wider tyres and disc brakes. It’s these developments that have produced a category of bikes that can now be ridden anywhere irrespective of the type of terrain

The Polygon Bend RV Gravel road bike is built around a 6061 Hydroformed Aluminium frame with internal routing. This is combined with an ACX Endurance Carbon fibre Tapered fork adding comfort and absorption of road and trail vibrations.

Powering this bike is the new SRAM Rival 1 x 11 Speed groupset. The 1x11 system not only simplifies the drivetrain, but also cuts down on weight and mechanical complexity, where you never have to second guess what gear combination you are in. The 38T front ring and 11-42T rear give you plenty of range to get you and the bike up and over just about any hill. Braking is handled by SRAM Rival's new flatmount hydraulic road disc brakes, completely intergrated into the shifters and have been refined in recent years to give effortless braking performance. The brakes provide tremendous power and gives the rider much better brake feel to reduce wheel lock-ups regardless of trail conditions.

On a bike that will be ridden on such varied terrain – wheels need to be both strong and yet still light – hence a set of Entity XL2 double wall alloy rims have been chosen which are laced onto sealed bearing hubs. Thru-Axles on both front and rear add stiffness to the entire bike, making the bike more predictable when navigating tight trails. Completing the wheelset is Schwalbe’s G-One tyre, in a 40c width, which is a revelation in on-road speed and off-road traction. With a round profile, low stack knobs and broad contact patch, the tyre rolls incredibly fast and has great traction on corners.

Finishing the Polygon Bend RV, are the Entity alloy stem, seat post and flared handlebars all matched with the Entity Flux saddle, narrow and long in profile allowing multiple riding positions.
