⚓How to build a ship model | Beginners guide to building a wooden model ship. The Santa Maria hour 3. A step by step one hour session tutorial.

The third hour I finished the planking of the deck. After letting it dry for about an hour, I make the protruding planks fit nicely and correctly. I use mostly a chisel, rather than cissors or a knife. By pusing and gently moving the chisel back and forth, I avoid splintering the planks. Fine finishing is done with scalpel knife. Afterwards, I sanded the edges with a file. Very important to make the filing movement from top to bottom each time, not the other way around. Otherwise, you risk loosening/splintering the planks. The opening of the mast is cut out to a limitid extent with a knife. Afterwards, a round file is used to further finish the opening. Again, only filing motion is made from top to bottom.

I'll be working on this additional project in 1-hour shifts so that I can fully chart the building process. Hopefully, I will have as much fun making this ship as all the previous ones before...
