Simple and delicious, this Bohemian comfort food was carried around the world from Prussia to Pittsburgh, and is also known as Polish Haluski, Polish Halupki, Hungarian Haluski, Hungarian sztrapacske, Halushki, Halushka, Haluska and a few I can't pronounce. In my restaurant experience I've made made it Non-Dairy, Vegetarian, Kosher, Halal and Meat, all Without Changing the Flavor!

Since you rarely find it at restaurants outside the region anymore, Here is a VERY easy and quick way to make it yourself without having to make your own noodles first. By using a high quality commercial wide egg noodle from your grocery store and a few things you probably have around you can enjoy this delicious treat, a dish that can challenge mashed potatoes as a fill-you-up favorite!

It's a great way to use up the cores of cabbage after making stuffed cabbage, or just use up some extra cabbage on a moment's notice. It pairs well with almost any fish or meat. Store it in the refrigerator for days, then microwave a mouthwatering side dish or solid meal in seconds.

Besides being incredibly easy to make, it's incredibly inexpensive! So if you're on a DEPRESSION ERA BUDGET, forget the Ramen Noodles and make this instead, MUCH better and better for you!

INGREDIENTS:
Egg Noodles (Cook whole package, put in refrigerator, use cooked noodles as needed)
Butter (no limit!), OR enough Lard or Coconut oil to coat the pan and add more later)
(almost optional) Bacon (1 slice per pan regardless of size) OR Fake Bacon (a sprinkle)
Cabbage - As much as you want or need to use up
Onions - more than you think, they cook down to about half the volume
Salt, Pepper - A sprinkle of each
Chicken Bouillon OR Fake Chicken Flavoring (same amount package says to use to make stock)
