This spot is making some of the best Thai food I’ve had in NYC and they deserve more recognition! When in Bangkok is taking no shortcuts with their dishes which fuse authentic ingredients with fresh concepts. For example, their Pad Thai Boran involves traditional Pad Thai wrapped in an egg net lattice (like how they do in Thailand).

When in Bangkok (📍161-16 Northern Blvd, Queens, NY) sources a bunch of their ingredients from Thailand. Their goal is to share traditional Thai flavors and most of their menu pays homage to dishes their owners grew up with. Their Steamed Branzino is topped with an umami fish-sauce based sauce with lime, garlic, sugar, cilantro, Thai bird chilies, and more while their Duck with Pineapple Red Curry combines sweet and savory flavors with crispy roast duck.

If you’re indecisive like us… get their BKK Platter as well to try a bunch of different appetizers such as Chor Muang, Chive Rice Cake, and Crab Rolls. We also got the Tom Kha – a coconut milk-based soup that truly hit the spot on a cold night.

When in Bangkok also has some creative and unique dishes like their Thai Tea Sizzling Roti. The textural and temperature contrast for this dessert is amazing so definitely give this a try!
