Hand engraved script font. I use a pencil to sketch the letters followed by a sharp ceramic scribe to make a thin line for my graver to follow. I’m using a CMAX preshaped 120° carbide graver that has been hand sharpened to about a 45° face and 15° parallel heels. The first step is cutting all the downward cuts of the stems of the letters. For consistency all the downward cuts are done with trying to maintain the same angle of cut; followed by all the upward cuts. Finally connections and adjustments like capping stems with a flat graver to create a finished look. Hand engraving is done my the art of cutting and guiding the tool with a coordinated eye. The work is simplified by using a pneumatic assisted push hand piece. Though I can cut the same alphabet by hand pushing the graver, I find I have better control and less slipping with my graver with the pneumatic tools. Thank you for watching!
