Second of my three-part introduction to CPU-Memory caching. In this video I explain the concept of average memory access time (AMAT) as a basis for understanding the performance impact of cache. I show both one-level and two-level cache examples of AMAT. I also discuss the three C's of cache misses (cold/compulsory, conflict, capacity), ways to improve each, and how they can tradeoff with each other.
