Kolkata Protests | East Bengal-Mohun Bagan Derby Cancelled To Prevent Disruptive Protests: Police

The Bidhannagar police commissionerate said that Sunday's Derby match between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan was cancelled apprehending attempts by some elements and organisations to create trouble at the Salt Lake stadium during some planned protests over the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital.

A senior officer of the commissionerate said that prohibitory orders under section 163 of BNSS have been imposed from 4 pm to midnight of Sunday to prevent any disruption of peace and five persons detained in this connection.
