Nitrogen Cycle Information:

The Nitrogen cycle takes place in nature, but also our aquariums! As our animals leave waste in the water, toxic ammonia is formed. Bacteria in the water converts this ammonia into nitrite. Nitrite is less toxic than ammonia, but still needs to be converted by different bacteria into nitrate. Nitrate is significantly less toxic and allows our animals to thrive in their aquariums!
