Timed Up and Go Test (TUG Test) for Fall Risk Assessment

Описание к видео Timed Up and Go Test (TUG Test) for Fall Risk Assessment

Patients sit in a standard armchair and can use an assistive device if needed. They are instructed to rise from the chair, walk at their normal pace to a cone or line on the floor 3 meters away, turn, walk back to the chair and sit down again. The investigator measures time to complete the TUG test in seconds. Although times greater than 12 seconds are considered abnormal, prospective studies have not found an association between the timed component of the TUG and falls. However, the test offers an opportunity to qualitatively assess the patient’s gait and balance during a relevant activity and identify those who need a more extensive mobility and fall risk factor evaluation.
