Описание к видео Italian Fashion Designer Valentino Dead At 93, Lessons From His Long Life

Valentino Garavani, one of the last grand couturiers of the 20th century who brought Parisian haute fashion to Rome and defined the style of the Dolce Vita jet set, has died at the age of 93.

The foundation that bore his name confirmed his death on Monday, adding that the designer died “at his Roman residence surrounded by his loved ones”.

The Italian, who went only by his first name, worked at the head of his eponymous luxury fashion empire for almost half a century. With it, he established a notion of beauty and elegance that helped define the modern fashion landscape and dressed celebrities including Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Marella Agnelli and Jacqueline Onassis.

Valentino’s vision was based on an understanding of dressing as a way to enhance a woman’s body in its most classical sense — to make it look and feel good. The designer, who excelled at tailoring, was acknowledged as a master in creating flattering dresses that women wanted to wear and could wear with ease year after year, as well as for his signature shade: “Valentino Red”.

Mastery before fame
Valentino spent years studying fashion in Paris and working under established designers before launching his own label. His success wasn’t rushed—it was built on deep technical skill, discipline, and patience.

2. A clear, consistent identity
He became synonymous with elegance, luxury, and the iconic “Valentino Red.” Rather than chasing trends, he refined a recognizable aesthetic and stayed true to it. Consistency helped turn his name into a global brand.

3. Attention to detail matters
Valentino was known for perfectionism—fabric choice, tailoring, color balance, finishing. His career shows that long-term excellence often comes from obsessing over the small things others overlook.

4. Strategic partnerships amplify success
His lifelong partnership with Giancarlo Giammetti handled business and branding while Valentino focused on creativity. This balance between art and strategy helped scale the brand worldwide.

5. Knowing when to step back is also success
Valentino retired on his own terms, leaving behind a respected legacy rather than fading out. That decision reflects confidence, self-awareness, and long-term thinking.

6. Legacy outlives productivity
Even in retirement, Valentino’s influence remains strong. His story shows that impact is not only about constant output, but about building something enduring that can stand without you.
