When a new model tool comes out, everyone seems to jump up and down either praising the last model or disliking the last model. I have seen over and over that people with the DCF840, who have never had a DCF845 in their hands, state to an audience that they would not upgrade because it is not worth it. The problem there is that it might not be worth it to them, at that time, but to many who want more speeds, more control, and more power, it might be the perfect time to upgrade.

I have to admit, I do not understand the DEWALT naming and numbering. The DCF845 is not the flagship DEWALT impact driver over the DCF887. Both of those models are XR models. Even the DCF850, an Atomic line, shares the same torque values as the prior two models. The differences all come down to RPM and IPM.

Either way, the kit linked above is a great deal as you can get one Powerstack battery, one 2Ah battery and the tool for the price of the two batteries.
