#Petersburg of #Dostoevsky, Gogol, Pushkin, Blok

The names of many famous writers and poets who lived and visited here are associated with Kolomna: Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Griboyedov, Lermontov, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Akhmatova, Yesenin. Writers not only strolled along the quiet streets of Kolomna, but also settled their heroes in the neighborhood. In 1830, Pushkin dedicated an entire poem to the outskirts of St. Petersburg with the obvious title "Little House in Kolomna", and later settled the unfortunate Evgeny from "The Bronze Horseman" in Kolomna. House No. 174 on the Griboyedov Canal is decorated with a memorial plaque mentioning Pushkin, although not all historians are sure that the poet actually lived here.

In "The Portrait", Gogol was surprised at how deserted Kolomna was. Here, at today's Staro-Kalinkin Bridge, his Akaky Akakievich loses his overcoat. Particularly superstitious townspeople, by the way, believe that the official's ghost still roams these places.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky, who quite predictably moved the action of "Crime and Punishment" to these places, also lived a significant part of his life in Kolomna. The writer did not even try to hide specific addresses: the old woman-pawnbroker lived in house No. 104 on the Griboyedov Canal, Rodion Raskolnikov - in house No. 5 on Stolyarny Lane, nearby - in house No. 73 on the Griboyedov Canal - lived Sonechka Marmeladova, and in house No. 58 on Sadovaya Street there was a police office.
