One of the new challenges that PokeMas added to the missions was requiring two units with different theme skills, deviating from the usual mission of several units with one theme skill. While it's obviously to promote the new sync pairs, it raises an interesting challenge on how units with these different theme skills synergize with each other.

So I tried it out with the Midnight Spookfest Battle Challenge, which has a mission that requires 1 Ghost-type and 1 Dark-type. I made that into this video's theme - 2v3s where the duo consists of a Ghost-type and a Dark-type.

Here's how each battle went, and the sync grids used:

Team 1: Fantina / Sawyer - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

I haven't really used Fantina since I think her kit is a bit bland, but I'm pleasantly surprised with her damage output. CS2 + extra sync power-up tiles on her grid make for a pretty good sync nuke. Sawyer isn't really bulky, but he completes Fantina's buffs so she can focus on spamming Shadow Ball and screaming Dance, Dance, Dance!

Team 2: Morty (Drifblim) / Piers - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

Both of them have 2-turn moves so I figured I'd pair them together haha. The Defense debuffs from Obstruct also help in powering up Morty's sync move, but of course it doesn't activate since Mimikyu decided to go with Swagger. That's why I was pretty frantic with the Phantom Force casts in the latter part haha.

Team 3: EX Fall Hilbert / Phoebe - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

While I went with Ghost-type strikers to take advantage of the weakness, Fall Hilbert holds his own thanks to his easy-to-set-up multipliers. Phoebe is the only Ghost-type tank I have (I haven't gotten BP Morty), and he buffs Hilbert quicker so he can spam Crunches faster. That final sync not critting on two of the opponents was annoying haha.

Team 4: EX Anniversary Lillie / Masked Royal - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

I mean, of course this was gonna be easy. Zinfogel was able to 1v3 this and their Anni Lillie isn't EXed (   • just use anni lillie lol  ), so this is actually overkill haha. I chose Masked Royal for the Alola boost and the Speed buffs to keep the gauge up. He can also decently tank Mimikyu's moves with his Attack debuffs.

Bonus team: EX Summer Marnie / EX Kiawe - https://pokemon-masters-stuff.github....

They count as a Ghost-type and a Dark-type, right? Right??? They have the right moves for it! In any case Summer Marnie wrecks this stage with Spirit Break, and she can also tank all of the moves well with her defensive buffs. Kiawe provided defense debuffs, speed, and heals. How this off-type clear was much easier to pull off than the first two on-type clears above just shows how busted Summarnie is.
