It was a sad and eye opening experience for me to see how Haitians were treated there. The conditions and sometime abuse they had to endure. I had always wanted to some how help the women and children of Haitian heritage living in DR. .

In 2013 court ruling denationalizing nearly a quarter million Dominicans of Haitian descent, stripping several generations of their nationality. We seek to address the issues of statelessness, immigration, and anti-blackness aquí y allá. Dominicanxs is especially committed to amplifying the voices of our fierce Dominican family of Haitian descent while practicing respectful and ethical transnational solidarity.

Last week I was invited to a batey in Sabana Largo (about 2 hours away from Santo Domingo) to hold a workshop with a group of women and children. @pensarafrica will be supporting #muñecasnegrasrd to produce handmade jewelry and upcycled clothing.
