President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the two Philippine National Police (PNP) officers who were kidnap victims of the Abu Sayyaf group (ASG) at the Tactical Operations Group (TOG) XI in Sasa, Davao City.

The two policewomen were identified as PO3 Benierose Alvarez and PO1 Dinah Gumahad. They were abducted by the members of ASG in Patikul, Sulu on April 29, 2018 along with other two civilians naming Blas Jackosalim Ahamad and Faizal Ahidji.

Through the negotiations initiated by the local government of Sulu, PO1 Gumahad was released on May 15, 2018. It followed by the release of PO3 Alvarez on May 16, 2018.

Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Jesus Dureza, Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Carlito Galvez, and Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde were also present during the event.
