Who is Nayyar Ejaz?

Nayyar Ejaz, also known as Nayyar Ijaz, is a veteran Pakistani film and television actor who has been a prominent presence on screen since the mid-1980s. Born in Quetta to a Punjabi family originally from Dharampura, Lahore, Ejaz grew up in a household deeply connected to the arts; his father served at Radio Pakistan and his elder brother is renowned classical vocalist Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. Before entering the entertainment industry, Ejaz briefly worked with the federal government and later obtained a Master’s degree in political science. Initially aspiring to be a cricketer—having even played first-class cricket—he transitioned to acting with his debut in Asghar Nadeem Syed’s play Zindagi Jis Ke Naam in 1984. His naturally mature screen presence allowed him to take on older roles early in his career, and by the 1990s he had become widely recognized for powerful villainous characters such as Shaikh Jumbail in Dasht (1993), Salman in Dhuwan (1994) and Major Kali Das in Laag (1998). Over the decades, Ejaz has built an extensive body of work across television and cinema, appearing in numerous successful serials including Hania, Cheekh, Khwaab Nagar Ki Shehzadi, Tumhare Husn Ke Naam and Mann Mast Malang. His film credits span major productions such as Moosa Khan, Zill-e-Shah, Na Maloom Afraad, Moor, Actor in Law, Teefa in Trouble, The Legend of Maula Jatt and Taxali Gate, showcasing his versatility across genres. Known especially for his dynamic portrayals of antagonists, Nayyar Ejaz remains one of Pakistan’s most enduring and respected character actors, continuing to appear in leading television dramas and films.
