The US is facing its biggest legal challenge to abortion rights in almost three decades. Mississippi is asking the Supreme Court to overturn the landmark Roe. v. Wade ruling and to uphold a state law that bans abortions after 15 weeks. So far, the high court's conservative majority is indicating it may side with the state and make sweeping changes to abortion rights in the US.

Joining Quicktake's Madison Mills to tell us more about the possible outcome is Anisha Singh.

Anisha is the Director for Judiciary and Democracy Affairs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
The case that could lead to the end of Roe v. Wade includes one argument hat the right to an abortion is no longer necessary because it has become much easier for women and equality with work and personal lives.

In Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court said that an unwanted pregnancy could lead women to “a distressful life and future” In a 1992 case, Casey v. Planned Parenthood, it declared abortion rights were necessary for “women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the nation.”
