Oriental magpie robin :-

It is distinctive black and white bird with long tail that is held upright as it forage on the ground or perch conspicuously.

To find? - Occurring across most of the indian subcontinent and part of southeast asia, it's common bird in urban gardens as well as forest and in open woodland and cultivated areas often close to human habitation.

It is perticularly well known for their songs and once popular as cagebirds. Oriental Magpie robin is the national bird of Bangladesh.

Physical? - this species is 19cm (7.5 inch) long including tail.
Tha male has black upperparts, head and throat apart from white shoulder patch. Underparts and the sides of the long tail are white.

Females are greyish black above and greyish white below.
It is mostly seen close to the ground, hopping along the branches or Foraging on leaf-litter on the ground with cocked tail.

Male sings loudly from top of trees or other high perches during the breeding season.
Apart from their song, they use range of calls including territorial calls, emergence and roosting calls, threat calls, submissive calls begging calls and distress calls. The typical mobbing calls is harsh hissing "Krsshhhh.... "

They ate often active late at dusk. They sometimes bath in rainwater collected on the leaves of a tree

Feed on? - The diet of magpie robins includes mainly insects and other invertebrates. Although mainly insectivorous, they are known to occasionally take flower nectar, geckos, leeches, centipedes and even fish.
