Walkout for Washington: 50K state employees to demand better pay, staffing

Stalled contract talks have tens of thousands of state workers potentially ready to stage a walkout next week to demand better pay and improved staffing levels.

Negotiators with the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) are urging their 50,000 members to walk off the job at noon on Sept. 10 across the state in what's being branded as the "Walkout for Washington."

Disruptions to the public are expected to be minimal as state workers will be demonstrating during their lunch hours and it is anticipated they will return to work.
