Everywhere you looked you could see double and there was a good reason for it. (Show film)
It was Twin Day at the Mill Mountain Childrens Zoo and lots of look-alikes - of all ages were on hand.
Sponsors were the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Coca-Cola Bottling Works. All told 74 sets of twins showed up. Prizes were given in different twin categories. For instance, the oldest pair of twins - Mrs. Blanche Mitchell and Mrs. Annie Mitchell of Huddleston, married brothers. Dennis and Anne Bliss got the prize for the twins coming the farthest distance. The 3-year-olds live in Montevideo, Uruguay. The most alike prize went to Pat and Mike Darlington of Roanoke-just two years old. And the youngest set of twins got a prize, too, although they werent too impressed. Theyre Mark and Margaret Daniska of Martinsville.
The least alike twins were Esther and Susan Whiteman, 11-year-old Roanoke residents.
Incidentally, twins at the zoo tonight got free rides on the miniature train, the Zoo Choo.
