Wuthering Heights the 1978 song by Kate Bush, sung by Enya-mid 80s (AI voice of Enya).
😲🍃👻🏚️💃🏻🏞️🪄
The song is inspired by the 1847 novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, and Kate was also inspired by seeing a 1967 television adaptation of it, writing lyrics quoting the character Catherine Earnshaw 'Cathy', who is a ghost haunting Heathcliff and a house named Wuthering Heights.
The ghost story that accompanies Enya's song Evening Falls is kind of similar, based on the 1938 novel Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. 💡📖
I guess Enya's take on such a song would be more subtle, reflective, wistful - but she can definitely hit the Wuthering Heights of notes! 😄🌟🎶
Photos of Kate are both from 1978, and Enya from 1986 in the larger image; c.1984 for the smaller colour image. 👁️😊

The instrumental of this song is also quite magical and memorable - the twinkly sounds ✨ like the antique cymbals and celesta, and of course the lead guitar, played by the late Ian Bairnson, even whilst wearing a cast on his arm. 🎸💭
Made with Canva, Pixabay for the overlay tree/moon image, and Weights for the audio stems. 🎨🖼️🎵 I realised I missed the song title from the thumbnail...hopefully it's fine ☺️
Subtitles, just skipped the repeated chorus for now. Also I only learnt some of the lyrics today 😅
Also where the line is "I'm coming back, love." it sounds like "I'm coming back, man" haha.
Either way, hopefully both Kate and Enya are eventually 'coming back' with a wonderful new studio album! 😍
Enya said in 2008 'When you think of Kate Bush, you think of the music, not the headlines.' That is quite a gift to be recognised for music first, and overall, Enya has that element about her music too. 🎼 She probably would've heard of Kate Bush and this song Wuthering Heights in her late teens (and Kate wasn't much older, releasing her debut album, The Kick Inside, at 18). 🐉
Aside from the assumptions that they are both reclusive (and have roughly a decade gap since their previous albums 😅) both Kate and Enya remain music pioneers in their own ways: Kate with her interpretive dance, her songwriting, and Enya with her synth skills, composing, and layering of her vocals. 🎼🌠♡
Hope you liked this; thank you for listening! 😁
