An Army Reservist, Warrant Officer Class Two, David Kidd, from Wigginton, York, has been awarded the Lord-Lieutenant's Certificate -- an achievement recognised as one of the highest honours in the forces, ranking alongside the MBE.

The certificate was presented to David by Colonel E C York TD DL Vice Lord-Lieutenant for North Yorkshire, at a private ceremony held at Worsley Barracks in York on 14th March, in recognition of his outstanding contribution and dedication to the Reserve Forces.

Following 22 years of regular service David joined the Reserves Battalion of 4 Yorks in 2004, quickly establishing himself in the post of Regimental Administrative Warrant Officer. Responsible for administering all the promotions, assignments, appraisals and allowances, David makes himself available to everyone, offering advice and assistance whenever he can. His caring attitude and encyclopaedic knowledge of the regulations has led him to mentoring the army and civilian administrative staff, and developing them into a closely knit and very effective team.

A lynchpin to 4 Yorks' administration, David's approach and personal belief in each individual sets him apart. His determination, commitment and flexibility has also seen him through several challenges over the years, including new electronic systems and in the last two years in particular, the separation of his team during an intense period of activity for the Battalion which was preparing for operations to both Afghanistan and the Olympics. His ability to not only cope, but to maintain the highest standards of service, during this very busy period is testimony to his dedication and team spirit.

Reflecting on the ceremony, David commented: "I'm extremely pleased to have received this award. My time in the army, both the Regulars and Reserves, has given me a wealth of experience and taught me so much, that I'm just keen to share that knowledge and skills, and keep striving to be better at what I do every day. To have been recognised in this way is a great honour."
