The focus was on depicting a bright future under communism, often portraying happy workers, strong leaders, and a prosperous nation.

While Socialist Realism was officially endorsed by the Soviet government, it was also criticized for being overly simplistic and propagandistic.

Many artists found it difficult to express themselves freely within the confines of Socialist Realism, and many works produced under this style were seen as formulaic and lacking in artistic merit.
