Question:
Social Work is a subject that teaches students about both voluntary and involuntary contributions to society. In this subject, you have learned about the various fields of social work and social action. Keeping in mind the current flood situation in Pakistan, discuss how a student of Social Work can make his /her contribution in his /her individual capacity to aid the victims of floods due to the Monsoon downpour in the country. (10)

Answer
Social Work:
“A profession in which trained professionals are devoted to helping vulnerable people and communities work through challenges they face in everyday life”
They have high aim in their life which is “to improve people’s lives.”
High level flood disaster in Pakistan:
Unfortunately, Pakistan is facing large crises of flood. It effect one-third part of Pakistan, almost 1100 people dead and 20 million homeless.
Role of Student as Social Worker in flood disaster in Pakistan:
• Emotionally support/ motivational skills/ after disasters:
Natural disaster like flood have highly effects on mental and physical health.
A social worker can support effected peoples emotionally and help to fight against their damage caused by flood. And stay connected them emotionally like a backbone.

• Help with Fund raising schemes, effected peoples:
A social work started flood relief camps or collecting funds through economically stable families, our rest of nations. Through door to door campaign or through telecommunication.
This fund raising is playing effective role to cover damages which happens in the result of flood disasters.
Sending or collecting funds is very effective way to help needy people.
• Donating books:
Donating also new books, stationaries items for those students who are effected with flood. Also, hold motivating or supporting techniques for effective students against their damage to fulfil their future aims in life. Etc.

• Donate goods:
A social worker started flood relief camps where economically stables families can sent their unneeded clothes in better conditions for helping needy people.
Or also sent used or buy new socks, shoes, bedding, and blankets are almost always in need after a devastating flood.
Sending other gifts or parcels of useful items which help them to fight against crises.
• Donating food items etc.
Sending them fresh vegetables, dry fruits, long term stored food items etc… like beans, Dalen etc. to cover their food needs. Also sending fresh drinking water bottles, juice etc.
• Donating First aid Kits:
By donating bloods, medicines or first aid kit we helped the needy peoples/ effected peoples.
Because these type of natural disasters caused different injuries.
