Hartington Hall YHA • Peak District • A review and tour of the Youth Hostel

The YHA hostel is just south of the main Peak District area, east of Leek and west of Matlock. I’m visiting here for one night with Kit, and have bunk beds in the shared male dorm room upstairs.

It is early April so the area is still looking very winter-like and this weekend the weather is a bit drab, at least in the evenings and mornings. However, inside the hostel is bright, well, kept and just what a trekker (or cyclist or whatever….) wants of a hostel.

Some of the YHAs in use are more modern, fully upgraded or even built as new. This one is not like that at all. It has charm and a character like you would expect of a countryside hostel.
