Sylvester Stallone has officially passed the torch, and production has just begun in the humid jungles of Thailand on the most controversial prequel in action movie history.

Titled simply John Rambo, this film is taking us back to the late sixties to witness the making of a monster. But the choice to cast Netflix heartthrob Noah Centineo as the young Green Beret has ignited a firestorm of debate among die-hard fans who wonder if a romantic comedy star can truly capture the soul of Hollywood's most haunted soldier.

Directed by Jalmari Helander, the mastermind behind the brutal action hit Sisu, the film promises to strip away the over-the-top spectacle of the later sequels. This is a grounded survival story focusing on Rambo's very first mission in Vietnam and the loss of innocence that turned a high school valedictorian into a killing machine.

While Sylvester Stallone is not directly involved in the filming, he has reportedly given his blessing to the project after his own wild idea to use AI to de-age himself was scrapped. Stallone recently admitted that playing a younger version of such an iconic character is a massive challenge, noting that Noah will have to fight the prejudice of an audience that only sees Stallone when they hear the name Rambo.
