Everywhere you turn on the Amalfi Coast, you’ll find limoncello. From gift shops to stands, limoncello may as well be the official drink of the region. And while the true origin on limoncello is unknown (and fought over!) we know one thing for certain: it’s delicious.

This zesty liquor is is made from —you guessed it!— the zest of lemons, along with sugar, water, and of course, alcohol (usually grappa or vodka). There’s a great deal of specificity involved in true limoncello from Campania- from the type of lemon, growing conditions, and even time of picking, but we still love the flavor of homemade limoncello right here in the 'states! You’ll be amazed at just how vibrantly yellow the liquor becomes, and by the bright flavor it boasts. It’s like sunshine in a pitcher!

Individually bottle up a batch to give as a springtime gift for a party, or stick a big bottle in the freezer for safekeeping. You never know when the calling for an aperitif will strike, and it’s an impressive and refreshing conversation-starter when guests stop by. Cin cin!
