What resolutions for photos in InDesign?

Photos come in all resolutions and sizes. When deciding on which photos to use in your InDesign documents, be sure to use photos that are appropriate for the intent of your document. If you plan on printing your document, be sure to use high resolution images that will print nice and sharp. For digital/online jobs we can use images at lower resolutions. It's not only the resolution but also the scale or dimensions of the photo that are also important. If you enlarge an image once it's imported, this will effectively reduce its resolution. We can check the scale and resolution of our photos in InDesign by using our Links panel.
