"Any death has no meaning, any death you want to avoid. But you know one thing when a soldier deliberately takes up a weapon and defends. He understands what he risks. Another thing is that here (at the memorial) we can read the names of the children, the youngest is 1.5 years old, the oldest person is about 100 years old. These people did nothing before the Russians. Their deaths were senseless, but the Russians deliberately shot them. It was the worst."

"I want to convey to the world that this is a lie. Russian propaganda is deceiving us, that we want a “Russian world,” that we do not support our president. We support him (President Zelenskyy). The vast majority of my acquaintances, my neighbors, my relatives, the vast majority support our president. And let them not deceive us, let the Americans not fall for this Russian propaganda, let them come here to us in Ukraine, let them see how much grief, how much suffering, how much death there is. The Russians say that it is not them. Their drones, their missiles are flying all over Ukraine."

STORYLINE:
The Ukrainian cities of Bucha and Irpin commemorated its residents who were killed by Russia's military on the third anniversary of the invasion.

Bucha and Irpin were one of the first cities which were met with Russian troops three years ago.

Dozens of Bucha residents gathered near the church where mass graves of local civilians were found in 2022.

They placed flowers and toys with the names of those killed at the memorial. 422 bodies were found after the liberation of Bucha.

Bucha church father Andrii Holovin held memorial services for all the victims buried at the church.

"These memories do not go anywhere from us," said Andrii Holovin.
