This was the first time plowing on my little farm. We decided to rotate the crop and plant grass in the field we just harvested and plow up the grass land on the other side of the driveway. This land has not been touched in at least 40 years. So this would be very accurate to how the land would have been plowed in the turn of the century. Minus the rocks and tree roots/stumps haha. My Allis Chalmers 20-35 was running well and my dads ford super major 5000 was also. a 2 bottom plow and 5 bottom were used. all in all worked well. The virgin sod was no problem all though the ford was brought almost to its knees pulling that big 5 bottom plow. This way of plowing is a lot easier then the earlier days with steam engines and gang plows. Just a side note. The water pump shaft on the Allis leaks bad. Will make a new one for next year.
