As in all wars, one side is always trying to one up the other side with better armor and more powerful guns. When Nazi Germany started using tanks like the Tiger and Tiger II with 88 mm Main Guns, America also had to up the ante, because the biggest gun the M4 Sherman (as well as the M18 Hellcat) could carry was the 76 mm, which had to be fired at shorter ranges to penetrate Tigers and had to be fired from a side arc because even the Panther was immune to the 76mm from the front. The M26 Pershing and M36 Jackson tank Destroyers were armed with a 90mm M3, and later the M3A1 anti tank gun. This, being a M26A1, is a postwar version, first introduced in 1948, the main difference being the different gun, the version used in World War II had a shorter caliber barrel. After World War II some M26 were upgraded with better engines and transmission and re-designated the M46 Patton.

The Model Kit looks great, I dont really see any problems with it at all, yeah, maybe single piece working track would be better, but the track, even though it is rubber track, looks really good I think. There are some bad pin marks on the insides of the skirts and so, but well, they have to put them somewhere I suppose. So a great kit that I highly recommend. Here is the Aftermarket parts link.
