Pro-Ject’s goal has always been to make high-end tech affordable. Many design elements you see on Project's lower-priced turntables have been adapted from their trial & error process. The 12.2 pulls out all the stops. Every implement lends itself to sound quality and the turntable is voiced quite deliberately, at a reasonable price relative to the prices of other high-end audiophile turntables.

Project's Classic Reference features the EVO 9 AS HG tonearm. The tonearm uses inverted cardanic Swiss ABEC 7 quality bearings with 4 stainless steel tips. The bearings are housed in a massive aluminum gimbal for maximum stability. For the EVO AS tonearms, Pro-Jectg uses an aluminum S-shaped tube internal damping with a removable headshell, and flexible high-purity copper tonearm wire – a great conductor for the phono signal. Each lead is fitted with a gold-plated connector clip.
