The place where domesticated birds are raised is a poultry farm. Chickens, turkey, ducks, and geese are all examples of poultry. These animals are bred to produce eggs and meat. The most commonly raised bird for both meat and eggs is the chicken. Chickens that are raised for their chicken meat are called ovens. Laying hens or layers are chickens that are raised for their eggs. Some poultry breeds that are raised on hobby farms are used in competitions and shows.
