Autumn Detox & Slow Living | Foraging, Craft Room Makeover & 59th Birthday
Autumn is my favorite season—full of foraging, cozy projects, and preparing for winter. It’s also the perfect time for a social media detox. 🍂
In this video, I share how I slow down and reconnect:
Reorganizing my craft room with a forest theme
Decorating with autumn leaves
Foraging in the autumn forest
Making the world’s most delicious porcini mushroom chips
Celebrating my 59th birthday at my daughter’s new home
Autumn is my favorite season. It’s also a busy time—full of foraging, closing down the summer cottage, preparing for winter, and most importantly, starting a social media detox if you haven’t yet.
In this video, I’ll show you how I detox by staying active and creative, both outdoors and indoors. I’ll take you into the forest to see if we get lucky this round, we’ll make the world’s most delicious porcini chips, and I’ll share the most powerful moment of my week—celebrating my 59th birthday. Not in a fancy restaurant, not with grand gifts, but in my daughter’s new home.
So grab a coffee, and welcome to my week of social media detox. Let’s get creative with autumn projects, take a walk in the wilderness, and slow down to enjoy the simple love of life.
Craft Room Mini Project
When my space is messy, my mind feels messy. Reorganizing my craft room is like clearing away mental fog. I’ve always wanted to create a forest-themed craft room, and this is the perfect time to begin.
This little space is where I feel excited and inspired. I’m so lucky to have it—it makes me happy in a way that endless scrolling never could.
Painting Autumn Leaves
Autumn is my favorite season, and its rich colors inspire me. I want my home to feel like the forest—warm and comforting.
Today I picked some leaves from nature to decorate my living room. To preserve their vibrant color, I heard hobby glue works well, but you can also try melted wax. Maybe I’ll test that later when I recycle more old candles.
Foraging
Foraging is exercise—you’ll break a sweat even in the chilly autumn air. It makes you not only healthier but also happier, because every mushroom you find brings joy and satisfaction.
It helps us sleep better, spend meaningful time together, and strengthen our relationships. It’s not just about food; it’s about connection, fitness, and joy.
Mushroom Chips
If you haven’t tried mushroom chips, you should! This was my first attempt, and I’m so glad I tried.
They’re so delicious—even those who hate mushrooms loved them! I only wish I had a proper dehydrator so I could make more of these incredible chips instead of reaching for unhealthy potato ones.
My 59th Birthday
This year, I celebrated my 59th birthday at my daughter’s new home. I volunteered to make the main course, and she made dessert. I prepared the food at the cottage earlier that day, so we only had to warm the vegetables, bake the potato pastry, and fry the ox fillet at the last minute.
Sitting in her living room, I realized that slow living isn’t just about mushrooms, autumn leaves, or tidying my craft room. It’s also about seeing the seeds you planted long ago finally bloom.
To see her, at 27, working hard and building her own life without needing my support—that is the deepest kind of joy a mother can feel. I had been waiting for this moment for 27 years. At 59, I felt so proud, grateful, and alive.
Life isn’t measured by likes or followers, but by these real, precious moments: laughter around a table, enjoying a simple meal, playing games, sharing a hug, and feeling quiet pride as you watch your child flourish.

Why Slow Living Matters
And that is why I choose this path—slowing down, being present, and letting life unfold with gratitude. For me, this is the meaning of life.
So, my friends—what about you? If you stepped away from your screen for a week, what moments would you notice more deeply? I invite you to try, even for just one day. You might be surprised by what blossoms in the silence.
