Fortescue Metals Group Ltd was born around his kitchen table, he has continued to nurture and grow it to a major player in the seaborne iron ore industry. Once Australia's richest man, his net worth peaked at $12.7 billion in June 2008 when Fortescue shares hit an all-time high.
The majority of the Andrew’s net wealth is invested in FMG however he is not afraid to make periodic and large additional invests in company. This is especial true when he feels that the shares represent good value which is not reflected by the market price. He understands the company and its fundamentals intimately so he is very comfortable to add to his invest.

He now also has farming interests to capitalize on China's growing appetite for meat and dairy products. Regarded as Australia's biggest philanthropist, he made the country's largest-ever donation in 2017, A$400 million, to areas such as cancer research.
