The New Zealand Fire Service Urban Search and Rescue team has been operational since 1995 and operates using accepted international guidelines. Following the recent Canterbury earthquakes, the Fire Service began the process to have the team officially classified by the United Nations International Search and Rescue Advisory Group.

This video explains what we are doing in the lead up to their assessment in March 2015.
