American use Aim-9 sidewinder missiles, but they are specifically designed for fighter jets
AIM-9 is 85 kgs and 3 meters long. That’s too large and heavy for a helicopter to carry
And specially it hinders its maneuverability when these missiles are attached to it
While TY-90 is only 25 KG and under 2 meters
Now some people will said that size give sidewinder better range and speed
But these sidewinders are for high altitude engagements designed for fighter jets
Aim-9 targeting systems degrade when you use them on low altitudes
Ty-90 is optimized for this low altitude environment, comes with 360 degree envelop
Engage targets upto 4 km away, can destroy enemy targets from anywhere even from above
Ty-90 also adds ultra violet guidance to its IR seeker.
Means it can targets helicopters and drones with weaker ir signature
And can engage fighters coming in from the front
How we manage to get these z-10 is a story that started in 2014
Army choose 4 helicopters AH-1Z super cobra, Mi-35, T-129 and Z-10
Pak chooses AH-1Z and ordered 15 units,
America got the money $952 M and denied delivery in 2018
Pakistan turned to Russia, here india a bigger partner to Russia influenced it and we got 4 MI-35
Pakistan asked Turkey for 30 T-129 but due to American engine
Z-10 was the last choice but it was rejected due to z-10 shortcomings as it was designed for south eastern Chinese region coastal region
specially power short comings in Pakistan hot desert and high altitude environment
Z-10ME variant changed everything, Engine, WZ-9G engine producing 1300 KW energy
20% improvement in climb rate, 10% boost in acceleration
2024 agreement and 2025 delivery
America stoped helicopters, Russia comes under Indian pressure, turkey blackmailed by USA
When we signed agreement with china, it was between 2 countries and no one else
