Summiting Seamounts

Описание к видео Summiting Seamounts

Seamounts are ancient underwater volcanic mountains created by the shifting of plates around the globe. These impressive underwater ranges rival the Rocky Mountains for their grandeur, except for one thing: they’re completely hidden from sight—until now. Scientists in Canada have discovered 62 seamounts off the coast of British Columbia, most of which were discovered in just the last three years. And it turns out they host some of the most bizarre creatures on the planet.

Cherisse Du Preez, from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, takes us on a deep dive of these incredible oases of life in the vast ocean blue.
