Located on the sacred shores of Gujarat’s Saurashtra coast, Somnath Temple is revered as the first and most ancient of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. 🙏

According to legend, the Moon God (Chandra Dev) worshipped Lord Shiva here to be freed from the curse of Daksha Prajapati. Pleased with his devotion, Shiva manifested as a Jyotirlinga at this very place. That is why Somnath is also called the Adi Jyotirlinga.

The temple’s history is not only spiritual but also deeply inspiring. Over the centuries, Somnath Temple was destroyed multiple times by invaders like Mahmud of Ghazni and Aurangzeb, yet it was rebuilt every single time with even greater grandeur. In 1951, under the guidance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the temple was restored to its present majestic form.
