Alpine epic on a Trek Slash+ ebike 2025

Rented the new trek slash+, excellent bike. in eco mode for the climb, it matches you up to 150w. Coming from a non ebike, that asistance is huge, significantly more than just "taking the weight of the bike" I used eco basically the whole 4500ft climb and had over 50% battery left. Handleing was very nice too, this would be the SL ebike i'd buy 100%.
As for the rental shop... not so great. If you can call it "insurance" , it covered ONLY 200 dollars... anything above that you had to pay up?! Not a single other bike rental ever has had this policy. The last thing the guy said to me as i pushed him a bit on the costs was "this bike dosen't have a scratch on it"! I nearly handed it back to him and left!
It ment i basicaly was on edge all day and didn't really enjoy it properly. I ended up walking bits i would have ridden etc. When i finaly scratched the fork lowers, i just went back to the FSR and finished the ride there and then. I did leave a review, and they used chatgpt to give a generic "i don't care reply" which kind of summed up my experience of the shop. Ive rented in many countries and shops and my experience has ranged from "standard" to (the 3 shops in whistler) absoultley excellent -to the point i wanted to go back next year to rent from them again as they were so good! Then this place was a bit of a shock to be honest! I went back in to ask how to remove the front wheel (was a different style to anything i had used and hadn't realised there was a pinch bolt needing to be released too) and not only did they not help, i ended up walking out of the shop embarassed/angry as their response was to treat me like an idiot.

For perspective I actually did replace my whole CSU (ie the fork upppers, which is the stanctions and steerer tube etc whit fox genuine parts for the equivilent of 500CAD, so i'm not sure where the 1200cad charge comes from?!
