My first recreational dive after getting my diving licence! It really is a whole new world deep down in the sea. Enjoy!

Brief history of USAT Liberty
The USAT Liberty was the United State army cargo ship served during both World War I and II. In 1942, it was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and beached on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The shipwreck was left on the shore until 1963, when the lava from Mount Agung eruption pushes the ship off the beach, into the sea

Since then, it has become one of the most popular dive site in Bali and one of the best sunken shipwreck in the world. The cargo ship is 120 metres long with its shallowest part at 5 metres and deepest part at 30 metres, located 30 metres from the shore.

This beautiful shipwreck is home to about 400 different species of reef fish. You can see sea turtles, pygmy seahorse, moral eel, nudibranch, garden eels and many more. It used to be home to the giant bumphead parrotfish but locals think they have migrated elsewhere due to human threats (upset that I did not get to see them).
