Bashar Al Assad SAAF forces attacked and defeated by a combined offensive operation executed by a number of different factions which are under the control of either Turkey or USA. It is unclear weather HTS is truly independent as it claims or it's also under the control of Turkey or USA. The operation only took little over a week to complete.

Biden says this will open new possibilities for Syria however this can also lead to a big battle between these factions after the celebration is over. It's very possible that SNA will resume fighting with SDF as they were already fighting for territory gains amongst themselves during this operation. HTS have had battles before with SNA and SDF and who knows what could happen now. This idea that with Bashar Al Assad down Syria will flourish into a great democracy is very unlikely because of the instruments used to create this new state. Are we really going to consider these volatile guerilla warfare warlords the purveyors of morality, collaboration and democracy?
