Its white, waterproof bark was once our ancient paper, and its branches still carry healing secrets - curing skin ailments, ear infections, and even intestinal worms. Yet today, this sacred tree is vanishing.

From Kinnaur to Pangi, smugglers now harvest its bark under the cover of night - stuffing it into sacks, sending it off to Tibetan and Chinese markets, where its value is understood more than at home.

Back in 2023, officials promised revival through JICA forestry projects. But in 2025 - there’s little left to show.

Meanwhile, women in Uttarakhand craft products from Bhojpatra and build livelihoods. And we? We still ask- क्या बचाना है, और क्या खो चुका है?
