This song brings me back to my high school days. "Truly" was a song written by Lionel Richie. It is the debut solo single by singer-songwriter Lionel Richie. I remember having this album on cassette tape. I liked all the songs in this album simply titled "Lionel Richie". I even made a YouTube video of another song from this album called "Round and Round" which is found here    • Round And Round: A Lionel Richie Hit ...  . The song climbed to #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1982. It also spent 4 weeks at #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart and 9 weeks at #2 on the R&B chart behind Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing". Lionel Richie also won "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" in the Grammys because of this song.
